Low Cost A1c Testing

The A1c test result reflects your average blood sugar level for the past two to three months. The higher your A1c level, the poorer your blood sugar control. And if you have previously diagnosed diabetes, the higher the A1c level, the higher your risk of diabetes complications.

 

We’ll be offering a low cost A1c test by appointment only, on the first Wednesday of each month beginning in April.

When discussing Type 2 diabetes it's beneficial to start with a basic understanding of the disease.  Many people think that diabetes is a "sugar" issue, but diabetes is actually a complex condition affecting the body's production and use of insulin.  If you have diabetes, the pancreas makes little or no insulin or your cells cannot use the insulin very well.  Glucose can build up in your blood and cannot be utilized correctly.  If blood glucose is too high, it can damage many parts of your body such as the heart, eyes, kidneys, and nerves.
